Originating from India and well-like around the world, a lot of interesting history has occurred around the famous Masala Chai. This is a blend that is all about flavor and balance. To create the best combination, the black tea used in this blend has to have a voluptuous body with fruity flavors that will play off beautifully with a touch of spices.

Along the coast in East Africa, Dar El Salam, Mombasa, Stone Town Zanzibar and Malindi being the most popular cities in the region; spices, coffee, and tea are abundant. If you were to walk into a cafe, you’ll be greeted by old-timers drinking either spiced coffee or Chai. Conversing or advising the youth and sometimes playing Igisoro or Bao as they call it.

Igisoro or Bao, is a board game similar to mancala and is played all over East Africa. The game’s origins are embedded in deferent cultures of the region. Even though the precise origin of this game is hard to point out, the people will tell you all sorts of tales, lore and their own phenomenon associated with the game. Puzzling as it may be, the conclusion is that it was a game for kings, friends, siblings and everyone still enjoys playing it.

When it comes to Masala Chai, the subtle secondary and tertiary flavor of spices add a layer of complexity to this warmhearted offering. Perfect for pairing with foods, cakes, beignets or enjoying on its own. This spiced chai also has the perfect amount of caffeine to keep you energized throughout the day.
